Playing in the treetops

I was really tired on physics lesson and I couldn’t focus…

The line art tooked me about 3 hours total. It took me about an hour to draw all the trees and then two hours adding the characters and finishing the picture. I tried to add some feeling of perspective in this picture. The line-art can be found from my scraps. [link]

It tooked me 3 days to colour this one. I used mainly watercolours, but I highlighted the threes and drew the leaves whit colour pencils. I added the net using my sketch and Photoshop. I’m not completely happy whit the colouring. The colours are too dark and messy. I probably try to draw something like this again some another time when I’m hopefully more skilled.

The characters in the painting are Nini, Poku, Toto, Piko, Shasha and Riku plus one random character. Let’s have a little competition. Can you tell where each one is in the painting? Everyone who participates gets a hug. :
To make things a little bit easier: The random character is the one in the middle trying to climp into a tree.

Edit: I forgot to mention that the picture was painted on a print. I didn’t want to take a risk of ruining the original sketch. That’s why you can see tiny little dots in the lines. The copy paper the picture was printed isn’t a good paper to paint on. I had to be really careful not to ruin the paper while colouring. The size of the paper was A4, so I had to use my smalest brushes all the time.
