One Friday I had to wait for my class to start for two hours. I was incredibly bored and too hungry to do my homework so I started to sketch on my notebook. After an hour of sketching I drew a radio with little mice dancing next to it. I liked the idea, but I didn’t like the radio in it. I thought what else could produce music. I came up with an idea of an old gramophone in the attic and little mice dancing and having fun. I liked the original sketch so much that I decided to paint it. I chanced the original sketch only a little bit, but the perspective, the gramophone, the toy-box and some of the poses are almost the same as in my notebook sketch.

This picture is the most complicated picture I have drawn in a long time. I’m not really good at perspective and up-view poses and I have never drawn a picture with so many characters before. I used several photos for reference with the gramophone and the toy-box to make them look more realistic. I know you should not shade a picture you are going to colour, but I couldn’t help myself.

It took me 2 days to colour this one!! The mice were so small I had to use my 00 brush all the time. (I had to buy a new one, because the old was in a really bad shape.) The toys in the toy-box were a nightmare. I enjoyed painting the floor and the dark background and the gramophone thou.

The picture was too large for my scanner so I had to take a photo of it.
